About Captain
Elijah Freeman

This is the fictional story about the real Elijah Freeman who fought as a Captain and Marksman in the Revolutionary War alongside American heroes George Washington, Benjamin Tallmadge, Alexander Hamilton, James Monroe, and others.

He and his family lived near Mansfield, Connecticut, on Freeman family acreage, and this story tells of Elijah’s upbringing and romance with Livia Hovey, whom he would eventually marry.

Britain with its far-flung empire would come against the rebellious American colonies feeling it would put down these upstart rebels in a rapid war using a strong army and the largest naval armada in the world. Little did they know of the fire of liberty sparked in the American heart by the 1776 Declaration of Independence and Thomas Paine’s writings, including Common Sense.

After early British victories, it seemed certain that General Washington’s understaffed and poorly trained army would lose the war and be brought back into the servitude of Britain.

Through the intervention of Providence and the ability of Washington to escape defeat to fight another day, America would be victorious in 1783. God wanted America to be free, so they could prosper as an example of freedom to all Nations.

The stories and personalities in the Revolutionary War
were very well put together . . .
I really enjoyed learning more about the Revolutionary War and how we prevailed with the help of Divine Providence which General George Washington so depended on.

It was an enjoyable historical fictional book
based on actual history that kept the reader wondering what exciting event came next.

From fighting Indians, to freezing cold at Valley Forge,
to shooting rabbits, to being a marksman in the Revolutionary War. Great book!

The character of Elijah Freeman, his faith, his passions, his courage, all blended into a fascinating story of how the lives of these early American families were played out in the context of a foreboding war of independence. The book was
compelling in its storyline and tugged at my own emotions
as the events unfolded.
